DR. BANK RECCOMENDS FOUR SKINCARE TREATMENTS TO GET GLOWING SKIN IN THE NEW YEAR

The start of the New Year is a time for new beginnings and healthier routines. The winter can be very stressful on your skin, so it is the perfect time to begin taking better care of it to ensure it stays vibrant all year long. Start the year off right and make a trip to your dermatologist to get a doctor’s professional advice on what treatments are best for your skin type.

MICRODERMABRASION

Microdermabrasion is ideal for all types of skin, and is great to get in the winter because it exfoliates dead skin on the surface that has built up. Microdermabrasion is mechanical exfoliating, which can be done in your dermatologist’s office using a special machine. This gentle yet efficient treatment does wonders for everything from clearing up acne to fading dark spots and wrinkles.

CHEMICAL PEEL

Chemical peels also work by exfoliating the skin; however they are much more aggressive and go beyond just the top surface layer. Chemical peels use strong acids such as alpha hydroxyl acid, and TCA to peel away deeper layers. Chemical peels come in different strengths depending on an individual’s skin type. Sensitive skin types can start with a lower strength peel and work their way up to the maximum strength where actual peeling of the skin will occur. Although chemical peels can be done at any time of the year it is best to get them in the winter to maintain a healthy, radiant glow all year round.

FRAXEL LASER

Fraxel Laser treatments offer a wide variety of anti-aging benefits, improving everything from fine lines and wrinkles to scarring and brown spots. The Fraxel laser is an advanced non-invasive laser treatment that works by penetrating the skin’s layers using light energy to exfoliate skin and build collagen. The treatments can be done at any time of the year, but are great to get in the winter because patient’s skin can become sensitive to the sunlight from the laser.

LASER HAIR REMOVAL

Looking to start off the New Year with smoother, more manageable skin? Try Laser Hair Removal! Shaving can be very irritating on the skin- causing everything from ingrown hairs to red, itchy rashes. For those with sensitive skin or anyone who does not want to deal with the hassle of shaving anymore, laser hair removal is fabulous.
